“Discuss the books you’ve picked up because you’ve heard of them in the online book community or platform you use”
Top 5 Wednesday (T5W) is a Goodreads group consisting of weekly ‘Top 5’s created by Booktuber Sam from “thoughtsontomes”. If you would like to explore the group more further, there’s a link right here to take you to the main page!
Hello! This week is all about the books read because of the book community, which I understand, is where most of us get our book recommendations from! So this week was quite a challenge to narrow it down to just five, I can quite easily pick 20+ that would fit. But alas, I’ve chosen five (some are series, dunno if that’s cheating..?) that are absolutely brilliant and I wouldn’t have discovered them without the book community, so let’s get started!
5. Adam Silvera
Now, I don’t know if this is cheating? But I wouldn’t have picked up his books if it weren’t for the (well-deserved) hype over him and his books. I loved both More Happy Than Not and History Is All You Left Me, and have They Both Die At The End somewhere in the mail. Because of the book community, I have found one of my auto-buy authors!
4 The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
This book had so much hype that I was almost put off picking it up! But I ended up doing so and really loving it. Not only for the important message, the likeable characters and gripping storyline. It was such a memorable book!
3 The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I love this series and it’s so close to my heart. The unique format and the interesting story had me hooked from the start. This is soon becoming one of my favourite series and I’m eagerly awaiting the third book to be released next year!
2 A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
Do I really need to gush over this book anymore than I already have? Well, I’m going to anyway! Again, this first book in a series has left me in love with Schwab’s writing and is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors! I need to get cracking on the next book.
1 A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy by Sarah J. Maas
Currently my favourite book series! (Aside from Harry Potter and HDM) I was obsessed right from the first book and it was actually this which got me into the book community fully. As I discovered fancasts and other people discussing elements of the story, I absolutely loved every second I spent on this series!
So those are my Top 5! Took me ages to narrow it down to that, let me tell ya. But I hoped you enjoyed this post, and I’ve love to know what books you’ve read because of the book community!
THANKS FOR READING!
