Wrap-Ups

My Top Reads from Summer! [2017]

The 22nd September officially marks the beginning of Autumn! In the memory of Summer, here are my top reads from the season! It’s been a pretty great reading period and I got a lot read, and found a lot of favourites, so it was tricky to round it down to 5!

5 THE WRATH AND THE DAWN10 Books to Read If You Love Watching Once Upon a Time ...

I read seen mixed reviews of this so I wasn’t expecting much, but my god, Renee Ahdieh’s writing is simply stunning and so lyrical, it was no surprised I also ate up the second book and the novellas! I thought the story was amazing and Shazi was such a strong female character, I couldn’t not enjoy this!

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera, Paperback | Barnes ...4 MORE HAPPY THAN NOT

My first taste of Adam Silvera and it was delicious! The furistic element was very clever and the main characters felt so real and they were incredibly likeable, my heart was aching at the end for so many reasons. I can see why Silvera is so popular and he deserves all the hype he’s getting!

3 GEMINAPyjamas, Ugg boots and blowing things up: What could Amie ...

I didn’t think it could get better after reading Illuminae, but the plot was so captivating and I loved the main characters, and it was great to see Kady again! I read this very quickly and eagerly anticipating what will happen in the next book! The writing style I fell in love with from Illuminae was still there, and Nik was just lovely!

Drawing On Books2 THE STATE OF GRACE

This book was like reading about my teen life. Even though the character had aspergers, I could very much relate to her in regards to general and social anxiety. It amazed how this book just ‘gets it’ and explained the majority of my own thoughts as a teenager! I so easily liked Grace and sympathised with her. I could never grow tired of this story.

1 A DARKER SHADE OF MAGICTitan Books - A Darker Shade of Magic - V. E. Schwab

Everything about this book I just LOVED. Easily going to be in my top reads of the year (that is, unless the next books somehow top it!). The characters were so likeable and complex, the magic system was ingenius and innovative, and the plot just sucked me in from page 1! I was scared I had my expectations too high before going into this, but that was never a problem, if anything they were blown out of the water. V.E. Schwab has swiftly become an auto-buy author, and can very likely become a top favourite author (along with the likes of J.K. Rowling and Neil Gaiman!). This deserved all the stars!

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Joint Review: Cinder by Marissa Meyer | The Book ...The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon — Reviews ...

THANKS FOR READING!

Abbie xxxx
